Join us for a Twitter Tour of Eugene
article by Carly Demanett
From homemade ice cream to art museums, Eugene has many unique offerings for
visitors and residents alike! As thousands of visitors arrive for the World Athletics
Championships, we want to offer a tour of five distinct Eugene neighborhoods by
showcasing the Chamber members that make these districts special. The tour will
take place on our Twitter feed @EugeneChamber July 18 – 22. We’ll highlight one
neighborhood per day and celebrate each neighborhood’s unique businesses and
events.
The five neighborhoods included in our Twitter tour are: Hayward Field/University of
Oregon, Downtown, The Whiteaker, 5th Street Market/Riverfront, and Oakway/
Coburg Road. Each day will includes tips for places to eat, drink, shop, relax, and
play in Eugene.
The tour kicks off with the Hayward Field/University of Oregon area. As many visi–
tors to Eugene have found, Cafe Yumm’s rice bowls, wraps, and salads are perfect
for lunch or dinner. And you’ll be thankful they sell their Yumm Sauce in bottles so
you can enjoy it at home!
On Tuesday, the Twitter Tour continues to Downtown Eugene where the Lane
County Farmer’s Market will be taking place in the Park Blocks. In the evening, Civic
Winery is an urban winery offering a relaxing place to sit back and enjoy a glass of
locally-made wine.
Join us for Whiteaker Wednesday as we explore this unique part of Eugene. No trip
the Whit would be complete without stopping by the local breweries including: Fall–
ing Sky, Ninkasi, Oakshire, and Hop Valley.
Thursday, we’re heading to the 5th Street Market and Riverfront district. With the
Eugene Riverfront Festival taking place in the new Riverfront Park, there’s plenty to
see and do here all week long! And for an early morning coffee or mid-day lunch,
Provisions Market Hall in 5th Street Public Market has a great selection of food and
drink options.
The final stop on our Twitter Tour takes us to the Oakway/Coburg Road area. Life is
about balance, so if you start your day with a healthy smoothie bowl or juice from
Nekter Juice Bar or Vitality Bowls, we recommend ending the day with a scoop of
hand-crafted ice cream from Salt & Straw!
The World Athletics Championships provide an incredible opportunity to show the
world what makes our City a great place to live, work, and play. Local businesses
like those highlighted in this tour are key to making Eugene vibrant and unique.
They give our city life and we’re proud to introduce them to visitors and locals alike.
Whether this is your first visit to Eugene, or you’re a lifelong resident, this tour will
help you explore some of the best of Eugene.
